UFC 128 Preview: Nate Marquardt Vs. Dan Miller

UFC betting fans were originally supposed to see Nate Marquardt square off with Yoshihiro Akiyama in a featured bout at UFC 128. However, following the earthquake-related tsunami in Japan and subsequent events, Akiyama understandably withdrew from the fight, citing obvious familial and safety concerns. The MMA community continues to pray that all the Japanese people are safe, and that they can start to heal from this tragedy.

While Miller is clearly game, this is a bad matchup for him. Marquardt is just as good on the ground as Miller is, if not better, and he has a marked advantage on the feet.

Look for Nate "The Great" to rebound from his last loss against Yushin Okami with a solid win over the New Jersey native here. Despite Miller's toughness and solid grappling acumen, Marquardt is just a bad matchup for him. Given Marquardt's attitude coming into this fight, sports betting fans know that he'll be looking to put on a showcase performance, and remind fans of his status as an elite middleweight. Look for Nate "The Great" to take a commanding decision win here.

While UFC fans should expect to see Marquardt with his hand raised on March 19, what happens next in the middleweight division is anyone's guess. With champion Anderson Silva eyeing a catchweight fight with welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre, as well as top middleweight contender Chael Sonnen still in limbo, it will be interesting to see how the next few months unfold.
